Green Smoothie

Would you believe this has kale in it? I was reading about its pretty amazing health qualities and that it's good in smoothies. So I tried it. Not bad, really, and the kids actually enjoyed it. Especially Nathan whose favorite color is green!

I've been trying to add more veggies to our smoothies as we don't eat quite as much of them as we do fruit. Spinach is also good in a smoothie - especially with berries.

One of my favorites, though, is bananas, carrots, pineapple, oranges or orange juice, and ice. Yum!

What goes in your smoothie?

Way to go, Nathan!

Nathan wrote his own name with only some verbal coaching!

Excuse Me?

I am always amazed at what Esther learns in kindergarten. Little did I realize they were learning about living versus non-living things. So our conversation on the way home from school went like this:

Esther: Mom, I know a fancy word for making babies!

If I had been drinking something, it would have been spewed all over the windshield.

Me: (nervously) Oh? What word would that be?

Esther: Reproduce!

Me (silent sigh of relief) That's right! Why don't you tell me about what you were learning at school today?

Let me 'splain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up.

Christmas was wonderful. Church services were beautiful, it was fun to watch the kids get excited about their gifts, and we really enjoyed having friends over for dinner. Then in a mad rush we put the kids to bed, cleaned up the mess, took down the tree, did some last minute laundry, organized, and packed our bags. Whewph!
Then we spent nearly two marvelous weeks in the Boston area with my parents. We visited friends and family, walked through Boston on a very cold day, ate loads of good food (including true Italian grinders in New London, CT, fabulous brick oven pizza in Boston, and world famous cannolis in Boston), celebrated my friend's birthday by the kids performing a play, drove through beautiful colonial neighborhoods, visited Louisa May Alcott's house, celebrated New Years, played outside, went shopping, slept late, etc. etc. Daron hardly did any work and I was able to truly enjoy being with him. He played with the kids every chance he got and they loved every minute of it. Truly, a vacation that was needed and enjoyed by all!

Since then, Esther went back to school. Nathan is taking classes at the recreation center as well as being involved in a co-op preschool with friends. I am two months away from having a baby and am exhausted and sore. Daron is back to the grindstone though he's finally getting some cases tied up and settled and slowly getting a few things off his plate. We have loads of outside projects on our list of things to do, which we may get to sooner than we thought seeing as the weather thinks it's Spring already! Seriously, our roses are blooming and we just barely started February!

That's the last month plus in a nutshell. The End.
