As Nathan has nearly outgrown his carseat, we have been contemplating switching him to Esther's seat and getting her a booster seat. It seems that is the thing to do. But as I was researching, I came upon this website - a foundation created by the parents of a three year old boy who was killed while riding in his booster. Their research later told them that if he had continued to be riding in a five point harness seat, his life would have been spared.
Now, I'm not trying to be a voice of doom and gloom, and you may not agree with their research, but I wanted to give you a chance to think about it. I think we'll probably get a bigger five point harness seat for Esther.
Check out their site and see what you think! http://www.kyledavidmiller.org/pages/home/index.htm

That is scary. I'll keep bailey in hers a while longer.
I keep my kids in their 5-point harness seats until I HAVE to take them out! Yes, sometimes strapping them in ends up being a wiggly power struggle, but what else is new? Definitely keep her in! (not that I have strong feelings about this, or anything...)
Anna's 6. She's in a 5-point. It's no less convenient....she can get herself in and out and I feel good about it.
State law here at home. It causes some trouble with some people. In fact, I believe if the age requirement wasn't also in there, my brother's 28 y/o girlfriend would need to ride in one. :-) Just remember when you and I grew up our parents just chucked us in the back of the station wagon, sometimes without seat belts. Safe driving is safe driving.
Yup. I saw that when I was getting Ada's first convertible seat. It stays in the back of my mind every time I need a new carseat. We bought Ada a new five point harness seat right before we moved. She'll be in that for about another thirty to forty pounds. We'll be getting Alice the same one once she outgrows the one she's in. I'll be honest, I think it looks comfy. Ada's got a headrest, a cupholder, storage space, cushions. It's nice.
