Yee-haw! Happy Halloween!

We were not super creative this year and did a cowboy theme. But the kids really enjoyed it! Esther told everyone she was a Sheriff Cowgirl and Nathan decided he was a Superhero Cowboy. He's worn his costume twice already and is excited to don it again tomorrow!

The trunk-or-treat was so busy (as I was pulling off an encore presentation of my play right before) that I didn't even get a decent picture. A friend took this one on her phone in the dark of us. I'll post cuter pictures of the kids when I take their pictures tomorrow!

Nifty Idea

I've grown out of my teenage years sewing box. I need something a bit bigger to store my stash of sewing supplies. So I set out online to find something and ended up on Etsy, checking out old luggage!

I just ordered this adorable vintage train case to use for my new sewing case. I am very excited! What a great idea, huh?

The Burmese Cuckoo

My latest project, a short play called The Burmese Cuckoo (think The Maltese Falcon) was Saturday and it went fabulously - minus the video camera running out of memory halfway through and the sound system that we couldn't use because there was a random Spanish radio station playing over it!

So we decided to do it again for the entire congregation right before the Trunk-or-Treat in a couple of weeks. I'll post our video then.

In the meantime, here is a movie I made on iMovie, which we played on a screen as the opening credits to our play. Enjoy!

Goodbye, Grandpa

My parents just called to let me know that Grandpa Brown passed away about an hour and a half ago. We had just been discussing this afternoon that it probably wouldn't be much longer, but I didn't think it would be quite so soon.

He had finally left the rehab center just over a week ago and was finally at home. He slipped quietly away while he and Grandma were having a quiet talk, but not before he gave Grandma a kiss. Considering the fact that they were not always very affectionate to each other, this was so sweet to hear.

He was in his library, surrounded by his hundreds of prized possessions. It was just the way I'd been praying he'd go.

As my tears fall, I am imagining the joyful reunion he's having with his mother, his adopted father, his mother-in-law (my Noni, whose cooking he adored), and all those he loves who have passed on before him.

Grandpa, I miss you already. Know how much I look up to you and love you.

Your loving granddaughter and your one and only,
"Miss Latour"
